Mayors award for illustrated Writing

Every year Years 3-6 enter the Mayors award for writing. It is an Enfield wide competition and there are thousands of entries. The top 3 pieces of writing for each year group are then shortlisted and the writers and their families are invited to the awards ceremony. This year Tobias in Year 4 was selected for the shortlist and his incredible piece of writing ‘Letter to the Editor of the Yorkshire Evening Post’, based on the book ‘Iron man’, was read to the audience. The standard of the writing from all the contestants was exceptional and we were delighted and proud when Tobias’s name was read out as the winner. He was presented with a certificate and a plaque, with his and the schools name engraved, along with the previous winners of the prestigious award. This is an incredible achievement and shows the outstanding standard of writing that children at Highfield produce.
