2L – Autumn Term Highlight

January 21, 2014

Year 2 started with a real bang when the ‘Junkyard Music Man’ came to Highfield and 2L really enjoyed a session with the instruments. Many children were inspired to create their own instruments by recycling.

We also studied an important figure for Black History Month – Rosa Parks. The children did an amazing job researching, acting and writing about Rosa Parks. The children took inspiration from her protest and thought about what equality means. They then created their own poster demanding education for children all over the world.

Recently we have been studying the Jewish festival of Hannukah. We lit the eight branched Menorah called a Hannukia and the children ate homemade latkas. “They were delicious,” said Morgan.
